Samantha Binienda, Family Support Partner at Parent Support Network of Rhode Island, applied to be a community representative on the Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee (OSAC). The top five applicants were invited to speak at the Office of Health and Human Services during the OSAC meeting. Samantha was chosen number three out of the five to serve as a community representative for the Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee starting this month, April 2025. Samantha shares, "I am very excited to be able to be a part of this committee for the next two years and to share my knowledge and advocate."
The Advisory Committee, as required by the national settlement agreement, will be comprised of an equal number of state and municipal representatives, as well as expert and community representatives and will work closely with key organizations coordinating the state’s response to the crisis, including the Governor’s Overdose Prevention and Intervention Task Force.
Parent Support Network of Rhode Island is proud of our Family Support Partners, the passion they bring to their work, and the lasting impact they make in the community. We thank Samantha for her willingness to serve and enthusiasm for using her lived experience in the peer support field.
