Celebrating Only Male Doula in Rhode Island as a Trailblazer

As a community, we often forget to celebrate and acknowledge the trailblazers and change-makers among us. Today, I want to take the time to give a huge shoutout to the only male Doula in Rhode Island and express my gratitude for his contribution to our Father 2 Father support group on April 17th, 2024.

The role of a doula is to provide emotional, physical, and educational support during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and much more. The concept of a doula is still relatively new in our society as community health workers, especially for men. However, this awesome gentleman defied the odds, broke the stereotypes, and paved the way for other men who wish to embark on this journey.

In conclusion, I want to say a big thank you to Edouard Latortue who kindly shared his story, his time, and his knowledge with us. You are a Great asset to and in our community, and your contributions are making a greatly impact the lives of fathers, mothers, and their families. We salute you.

For those who would like to get in touch with Edouard Latortue, He can be reached on Facebook @Woosa Doula or on Instagram @woosa_doula. Please join us in showing support.
